The Story
Jackie
I started my journey in floristry in 1994. I had a part-time job as a florist whilst I studied Marketing and Retailing. This led to a very rapid jump from part-time employee to a full-time position and finally purchasing an existing retail florist. I was in love from day one and not a single day goes by when I’m not grateful for finding my passion and working in an environment I love. My happy place is at work with my apron on, creating beautiful arrangements with a chill playlist softly in the background.
I have been fortunate to meet the most amazing people on my journey and this has led to me hosting floral workshops for Garden & Home magazine, training florists for Interflora, demonstrating new designs to florists, and designing a gold award stand at the Johannesburg International Flower show in 2019. I have an insatiable passion for this industry and love to share the knowledge I have accumulated over the years. It amazes me that no matter how much knowledge l have, how refined my skill is not a week goes by when I don’t learn something new. I love following flower designers in Europe and the East to keep abreast of recent trends in my industry, just like fashion it’s ever-changing.
In general, the retail industry has changed significantly in the 30 years I’ve owned my florist. In 2011 I took a leap of faith and purchased a house in Queen Street Kensington. Moving from a bustling shopping centre into a quieter retail environment came with many challenges and tons of opportunities which we as a team have embraced. We have renovated the house into the perfect spot for us, I love working in this beautiful environment, it’s good for my soul!t.
Our Method
Our method of expanding our business is to focus on our many corporate clients and online business. We have had a lot of success in expanding our range of flower arrangements and personalised gifts. We are constantly adding new products, so our selection is always changing. We also take on any job that is presented to us, no matter the size or complexity. We strive to offer the highest level of service to our customers so that they will return.
